What Is PDF Form Filler?

PDF Form Filler detects and lets you complete interactive fields in any fillable PDF. It handles text inputs, checkboxes, radio buttons, and dropdown menus — so you can fill out tax forms, applications, and official documents without printing a single page.

How to Use This Tool

Upload a fillable PDF and the tool automatically detects all interactive fields. Click into any field to type, check boxes, or select options from dropdowns. Once complete, download the filled PDF. Your document stays in your browser the entire time — nothing is sent to a server.

Why Use PDF Form Filler?

Many free PDF viewers can’t edit form fields, and online form fillers often upload your sensitive documents to third-party servers. This tool fills forms entirely in-browser, keeping tax returns, medical forms, and legal paperwork private. For a detailed walkthrough, see our step-by-step guide.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a fillable PDF form?+
A fillable PDF uses AcroForm fields — text boxes, checkboxes, radio buttons, dropdowns, and signatures — that users can complete directly in any PDF reader. Our tool detects these fields automatically and lets you fill them in your browser.
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?+
No. Your PDF never leaves your device. The form fields are parsed and filled entirely in your browser using pdf-lib, with no uploads and no tracking of file contents.
Can I flatten the form after filling?+
Yes. You can optionally flatten the PDF on export, which converts your filled fields into permanent, non-editable text baked into the page — useful for signing contracts or submitting applications.
What field types are supported?+
Text fields, checkboxes, radio buttons, dropdowns, and signature fields. Our tool automatically detects all AcroForm fields on every page and presents them in an editable form.
What if my PDF has no form fields?+
If the PDF doesn't contain AcroForm fields, our tool will let you know. For that case, try our PDF Signer or PDF Annotator to add text, signatures, and checkmarks anywhere on the page.
Can I fill multiple copies of the same form with different data?+
Yes. The bulk mode accepts a CSV with one row per form copy and one column per form field. Upload the form once and the CSV once, and the tool produces a ZIP of individual filled PDFs ready to send. Field names in the CSV header must match the form field names exactly (case-sensitive); the tool shows the available field names from your PDF before you upload the CSV to verify.
What happens if my CSV row has more or fewer columns than the form?+
Missing fields default to empty (or whatever default was set in the form). Extra columns in the CSV are ignored with a warning. The tool reports which fields were filled and which were left empty in a summary after generation so you can verify the data matched as expected.
Does the bulk-fill mode preserve formatting from my CSV?+
Yes. Newlines in a CSV cell render as line breaks in the filled PDF text field if the field is multi-line. Currency formatting (commas, decimal points), date formatting, and any character your CSV contains pass through verbatim. The tool does not reformat your data; what you put in the CSV is what fills the field. For consistent formatting across many rows, pre-format your CSV in Excel or Google Sheets before upload.
