How to use it
- Type your letters. For a blank tile or a letter you do not know, type ? (or a space).
- Every word you can make appears below, longest first, grouped by length. Letters filled in by a blank are shown in amber.
- Narrow the list with starts with, contains, ends with or an exact length, or tick Use all letters to see only true anagrams (for example LISTEN: enlist, inlets, silent, tinsel and elints).
Which words it knows
The words come from ENABLE, a word list of 172,823 English words whose maintainers released it into the public domain for anyone to use, so there are no licence strings attached and it can run entirely in your browser. Its own documentation is clear that it is not TWL98 or any other official tournament dictionary, which are proprietary. In practice that means a word game may accept a handful of words this list lacks, or reject a few it includes; check your game’s own dictionary when a word is disputed. The list has no proper nouns, abbreviations or hyphenated words.
How it finds the words
For every word in the list, the page counts how many times each letter appears and checks it against your letters: a word fits if each of its letters is in your rack at least as often as it is needed, with each blank covering one missing letter. That is exact, so nothing is missed and nothing impossible is shown, and a check of all 172,823 words takes a fraction of a second. The list itself (about 1.7 MB, sent compressed) is loaded once and then reused.
What we tested
On October 15, 2026 we compared the page’s solver with a separate Python solver on 400 random racks of 3 to 15 letters, with up to two blanks and every filter: both returned exactly the same words in every case (320,849 words in total). A version that ignored how many of each letter you have was caught on 57 of 60 racks. In Chromium on a 390 px screen, LISTEN with Use all letters returned its six anagrams, QU?Z found QUIZ with the I marked as a blank, and STARE with ends with S listed only words ending in S.
