Sticker & Emote Maker

How to make a sticker or emote

  1. Upload an image. A PNG with a transparent background gives a die-cut sticker that follows the outline; a photo works with the circle, rounded or square shape.
  2. Set the border (8 px white at 512 px is WhatsApp’s recommendation), zoom and drag the image into place, and add a short caption if you want one.
  3. Check the previews on light, dark and colored backgrounds and at the 28-pixel chat size, where detail disappears first.
  4. Download the WhatsApp sticker (WebP plus tray icon), the 112/56/28 emote set, a 128 px emoji or a 1024 px PNG for print.

How the border and sizes are made

The border is drawn from the art’s own transparency: the tool makes a solid silhouette of the image (and caption) in the border color and stamps it around the original in several rings, so the edge follows every curve and stays solid even when it is thick. Every size is rendered at 512 px first and then halved step by step down to the target, which keeps 56 and 28 px emotes crisper than a single big downscale.

What we tested

On October 14, 2026 we drove the tool in Chromium with a cut-out cartoon (transparent PNG), a detailed photo and a worst-case square of random noise, downloaded every export and checked it with Pillow: size, file type from the file’s own signature, bytes, and transparency.

The border followed the outline: on the cut-out test image every pixel just outside the art’s edge was opaque white (the last 6 px before the transparent edge at row 256 are white (RGB > 225)), and the corners of every sticker stayed fully transparent. The page fitted a 390 px phone screen with no errors.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size is a WhatsApp sticker?+
WhatsApp's own sticker documentation (the Android README in its official stickers repository) says stickers must be exactly 512 by 512 pixels in WebP format, each static sticker at most 100 KB, with a 96 by 96 tray icon of at most 50 KB, and recommends an 8-pixel white stroke around each sticker. The WhatsApp export here follows all of that; the border defaults to 8 px.
How do I get the file under 100 KB?+
You don't have to: the WhatsApp export starts at WebP quality 90 and steps down by 5 until the file is at most 100,000 bytes. In our test a cut-out cartoon came to 10.4 KB and a detailed photo cropped to a circle 41.7 KB, both at quality 90; only a square of pure random noise, the worst case there is, needed the step-down, reaching 97.6 KB at quality 60.
What sizes do Twitch emotes need?+
Every guide we checked, and the creator tools that export for Twitch, agree on three square sizes: 112, 56 and 28 pixels, as PNG with a transparent background. Guides disagree on the file-size limit (25 KB and 1 MB both appear), so the tool shows each file's size: our test emotes were 112 px 4.9 KB, 56 px 2.3 KB, 28 px 1.1 KB, under either figure.
What is a die-cut sticker?+
A sticker cut along the outline of the art instead of a rectangle, usually with a white border around it. Here the border follows the transparent edge of your image, so upload a PNG with a transparent background; for photos, the circle and rounded-square shapes crop instead.
Can I make a WhatsApp sticker pack with this?+
This tool makes the sticker and tray-icon files. WhatsApp adds stickers through sticker apps (a pack needs 3 to 30 stickers), so make each sticker here and import them with a sticker app or WhatsApp's own sticker maker.
Are my images uploaded?+
No. The image is read, drawn and encoded in your browser, and your settings are saved only on this device.
