How to make a printable calendar
- Pick the year: it starts on next year from October onward, and the arrows step a year either way.
- Choose a layout: the whole year on one page, twelve pages with a month each, or a single month with room to write in each day.
- Set the details: Sunday or Monday week start, US Letter or A4, an accent color, and US federal holidays on or off.
- Print or save as PDF. Only the calendar prints, not the settings.

New Year’s Day 2028 falls on a Saturday, so it is observed on Friday, December 31, 2027, which the 2027 calendar shows. Many private employers and schools follow different holiday lists, and the second Monday in October is also marked as Indigenous Peoples’ Day in many states and cities; the federal name is Columbus Day.
How the dates are worked out, and what we checked
Every date is computed in Coordinated Universal Time, so a calendar printed in any time zone shows the same weekday for the same date. Fixed-date holidays use their date; the others follow the rules in the law, such as the third Monday in January for Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the last Monday in May for Memorial Day and the fourth Thursday in November for Thanksgiving. A holiday on a Saturday is observed the Friday before and one on a Sunday the Monday after, as the Office of Personnel Management applies the rule.
On October 14, 2026 we checked the tool’s own functions against Python’s calendar module for every month from 1900 to 2200 with both week starts: 7,224 month grids, 0 mismatches, leap years included. Its 2026 and 2027 federal holidays and observed days all matched the dates worked out by hand from the rules, including New Year’s Day 2028 being observed on December 31, 2027.
